Delete your account from Today Was

1. Open Today Was and sign in to the account you want to delete. If the app asks you to sign out and back in, do that first so the deletion request has a recent sign-in.
2. Open the menu, choose Settings, and scroll to Delete Today Was account.
3. Select Delete account, type DELETE MY ACCOUNT exactly, then select Delete permanently.

The app confirms the request before it starts. If a connection is interrupted after deletion begins, sign in again using a fresh link and choose Finish account deletion to continue the same request.

Can't access the app?

Send an account-deletion request to hello@chargedalpha.com from the email address on the Today Was account. Use the subject “Today Was Account Deletion.” We may send a verification step before acting on the request. Never include a recovery key, journal export, voice recording, one-time sign-in link, or private entry in your email.

What account deletion removes

Account deletion permanently removes the account and sign-in data held by Today Was, including the verified email address, account identifier, active sessions, passkey public credentials, pending sign-in challenges and links, and account-associated records. If you used an older Today Was release with a server-stored encrypted copy or uploaded media, deletion also removes those associated records and media objects.

If you used Full Journal or Weather & Atlas, account deletion also removes Today Was's limited account-bound entitlement metadata and ends this account's authorization for the paid weather relay. It does not cancel a subscription, erase a purchase record, or process a refund at Apple or Google; manage that separately in the store where you bought it. Those purchase records never include your journal content.

In the current device-only mode, Today Was does not keep a server-side copy of your journal text, photos, recordings, or local settings. Limited security, authentication, hosting, and service provider logs can remain for their configured retention periods, as described in the Privacy & security notice.

Erase encrypted journal data from your device

Deleting the account does not by itself erase the encrypted journal database already stored on a device. The app removes the saved vault key associated with the deleted account, so that local vault is no longer automatically accessible, but the encrypted data remains until you remove it from the device or browser.

If you want to keep any memories, create and safely store a private export before continuing. To permanently remove the device-local journal as well:

1. On iPhone or Android, delete Today Was. On Android, you can also use the operating system's Apps settings to clear Today Was storage. Device menus vary by manufacturer.
2. In a web browser, clear site data for daymoire.chargedalpha.com in the browser's site-settings controls. Removing only a home-screen shortcut does not necessarily clear browser data.

These device-local removal steps permanently remove that stored journal. They cannot restore a deleted local copy unless you saved it in an earlier private export.
